Experimental and modelling studies of drought-adaptive root architectural traits in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

摘要: Abstract This paper presents an interdisciplinary approach to crop improvement that links physiology with plant breeding and simulation modelling enhance the selection of high‐yielding, drought‐tolerant varieties. In a series field experiments in Queensland, Australia, we found yield CIMMYT wheat line SeriM82 ranged from 6% 28% greater than current cultivar Hartog. Physiological studies on adaptive traits revealed had narrower root architecture extracted more soil moisture, particularly deep profile. Results analysis these cropping system model APSIM for range rain‐fed environments southern Queensland indicated mean relative benefit 14.5% water‐deficit seasons.
