Validation of an instrument to assess the delivery of patient-centred care to people with intellectual disabilities as perceived by professionals

摘要: Patient/Person Centred Care (PCC) has achieved widespread attention which resulted in the identification of eight dimensions PCC: Respect for patients’ values, preferences and expressed needs; information education; access to care; emotional support relieve fear anxiety; involvement family friends; continuity secure transition between healthcare settings; physical comfort; coordination care. An instrument assess patient centeredness care delivery according these among professionals is however lacking. The main objective this study therefore develop validate an PCC providing institutionalized People With Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs). This cross-sectional survey was conducted a disability centre region Twente Netherlands, Twentse Zorgcentra. All delivering PWIDs (n = 1146) were invited participate. developed PCC, tested 464 (response rate = 40%). We by means structural equation modelling, examined its validity reliability. Indices 35-item version are satisfactory but showed that model left room improvement shortening (RMSEA >0.06 CFI < 0.95). Confirmatory factor analyses revealed good indices fit with 24-item PCC-instrument professionals. Internal consistency overall also good. psychometric properties satisfactory, rendering it valid reliable assessing PWIDs.
