摘要: Title. Improving decision-making in caring for people with epilepsy and intellectual disability: an action research project. Aim.  This paper is a report of study aimed at improving concerning risks disability the empowerment participants to sustain this improvement. Background.  Residents long-stay units specialized centres suffer severe are often intellectually disabled. Professional caregivers have find balance between risk-taking protection, as both can negative effect on quality life. Clients, their representatives involved process. Method.  A participative project was conducted. Data were gathered continuously over 22-month period 2004–2006 by interviews, observation, written reports meetings personal stories. Findings.  The resulted ongoing process improvement. Problems about risk clarified. importance consensus commitment management all became apparent. Phases discerned used adjust caregiving clients’ needs capacities Assessment client more systematic ‘steps individual framework decision-making’ developed tool approach. Conclusion.  Using model improve provided preconditions suggesting way other institutions.
