摘要: Abstract Background Skeletal muscle depletion predicts poor prognosis of patients with certain cancers. However, the correlation between low skeletal index (SMI) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is not well understood. Methods To determine their influence on prognosis, visceral fat area (VFA) were measured using computed tomography at level third lumbar vertebra 195 who underwent primary hepatectomy for (HCC). We defined sarcopenia cutoff values SMI as 43.75 cm 2 /m 41.10 cm males females, respectively. Results Sarcopenia was present in 89 (45.6%) correlated significantly ( P = 0.13). In BMI ≥22, CRR different or without (19.0 35.2 months, respectively, = 0.03). contrast, there no significant difference ≥22 a function VFA = 0.47). When cohort limited to multivariate analysis showed that independent risk factor recurrence (hazard ratio = 1.6; 95% confidence interval, 1.1–2.5; = 0.02). Conclusions Low-SMI an adverse prognostic ≥22. Therefore, preventing wasting may improve HCC.
