摘要: Equine sarcoids develop upon bovine papillomavirus type 1 or 2 (BPV1, BPV2) infection in conjunction with trauma and represent the most common tumour disease horses other equids, including donkeys. In face of a sarcoid outbreak involving 12 111 donkeys mules at ‘Rifugio degli Asinelli’, subsidiary charity organization The Donkey Sanctuary, non-invasively collected sample material crusts, dandruff, swabs hair roots was from sarcoid-affected 26 healthy donkeys, as well dandruff grooming kit tabanids caught vicinity patients. addition five previously stored formalin were provided. DNA isolated tested for presence BPV1/2 E5 oncogene using PCR. Positive samples further analysed by E2/E4 LCR PCR amplicon sequencing to determine possible source via comparative alignment intralesional gene variants. IC/PCR used assess aliquots virions, IHC analyse tumours BPV1 L1 protein expression. All two 55 curry comb positive E5, yet negative IC/PCR. Healthy animals BPV1/2-free. revealed different levels expression. A series E2, variants BPV2 detected indicating that they had accidently developed about same time rather than having acquired each other.
