摘要: A microbiological survey of Aeromonas hydrophila in Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries showed that this species is ubiquitous, occurring numbers ranging from <0.3/l to 5 × 103/ml the water column ca. 4.6 102/g sediment. It was recovered samples collected at several locations representing various salinity regimes, but A. higher water, i.e. 15O/OO, were low. Results stepwise multiple linear regression analysis concentrations correlated with total, aerobic, viable, heterotrophic, bacterial counts, and, addition, inversely related concentration dissolved oxygen. Seasonal occurrence recorded, fewer strains encountered during winter months. The potential pathogenicity isolated estimated by testing selected isolates for toxigenicity, using Y-1 adrenal cell assay. Of 116 tested, 83 (71%) produced a cytotoxic response, characteristic found be lysine decarboxylase Voges-Proskauer reactions. Eight 11 which elicited fluid accumulation rabbit ligated ileal loop assay, also provoked reaction Y-l study indicate large toxigenic can an estuary such may pathogenic man and/or animals.
