Patterns of practice in mental health courts: A national survey.

摘要: Mental health courts (MHCs) represent an important new development at the interface of criminal justice and mental systems. MHCs are for persons with illness that were in part created to divert this population from jail/prison into community treatment. proliferating rapidly despite limited knowledge regarding their characteristics or efficacy. We surveyed entire adult United States, n = 90. In past 8 years, have been 34 states, aggregate current caseload 7,560 clients nationally. Most (92%) reported using jail as a sanction noncompliance, if only rarely. Further, use was significantly predicted by increased judicial supervision number felons court. Implications social monitoring discussed.
