Reducing obesity indicators through brief physical activity counseling (PACE) in Italian primary care settings.

摘要: Background: There is an alarming prevalence of obesity and sedentariness in Western countries. An ideal context for health promotion preventive medicine seems to be the setting primary care provided by general practitioner (GP).Purpose: Therefore, this study evaluated impact GPs’brief physical activity counseling overweight obese patients.Methods: Individuals recruited during routine physician visits were randomly split into experimental (n = 48) group that received Patient-centered Assessment Counseling Exercise (PACE) protocol, a usual-care control group. Body mass index (BMI) abdominal girth assessed as objective biometrical parameters. Patients self-reported their readiness self-efficacy.Results: The had significantly better BMI compared with after 5- 6-month follow-up. Furthermore, progressed stage increased self-efficacy.Conclusions: GPs’counseling using PACE protocol influenced mediators outcomes Italian context.
