摘要: In search for a biochemical marker to differentiate between adrenocortical carcinoma (AC) and adenoma (AA), plasma levels of the following steroids were studied preoperatively postoperatively: 11-deoxycorticosterone (DOC), corticosterone (B), 11-deoxycortisol (S), cortisol (F). Levels measured by Sephadex LH-20 chromatography specific radioimmunoassays. The subjects included eight children ages 2 years, 5 months 9 10 months. There three girls boys with pseudoprecocious puberty due tumors (histologically, four AC four, AA). preoperative showed that DOC S elevated in all patients, F when compared age-matched controls, whereas B was normal. Postoperatively, returned ratios B/DOC F/S as an index adrenal 11 beta-hydroxylase activity calculated. markedly decreased patients controls (7.7,4.1,5.9,1.9 versus 23.5, median), but normal AA (16.2, 29.6, 16.1). significantly lower controls. data indicate deficiency beta-hydroxylation cases tumors. Despite still limited number may possibly malignancy could be helpful distinguishing means benign malignant
