摘要: Background Benign, refractory esophageal strictures are an important therapeutic challenge. Metal stents occasionally have been used, but results disappointing. The present study assessed the safety and efficacy of temporary placement new expandable polyester silicone-covered stent for management problematic strictures. Methods Fifteen patients with benign were treated by (6 weeks) stent. All had previously treated, unsuccessfully, repetitive endoscopic dilation. Results Stent was successful in all patients. There no procedure-related complication. Dilation over-the-guidewire polyvinyl dilators required before placement. With situ, dysphagia completely resolved Six weeks after placement, one found to migrated into stomach. In remaining patients, easily removed a foreign body forceps. pretreatment score 3 (range 2-4); post-treatment 1 0-1) (p Conclusions conventional dilation, removable may lead long-term relief minimal morbidity.
