摘要: In the glaucomatous optic nerve head, excessive nitric oxide (NO) may be responsible, at least in part, for degeneration of axons retinal ganglion cells. We have demonstrated apparent up-regulation and induction certain isoforms synthase (NOS), enzyme that synthesizes NO, astrocytes prelaminar lamina cribrosa regions heads patients with glaucoma. Evidence NO toxicity, histochemical staining nitrotyrosine, is present these damaged heads. rats experimentally induced, moderately elevated intraocular pressure, NOS were also identified.
