摘要: Previous diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI) studies reported mean diffusivity (\({\overline D}\)) and fractional anisotropy (FA) changes in lesions normal-appearing white matter (NAWM) of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), but neglected the additional information which can be obtained by analysis inter-voxel coherence (C). The present study is based on a large sample MS it aimed at assessing potential role C quantification MS-related tissue damage T2-visible NAWM. We dual-echo, T1-weighted DT-MRI scans from 78 relapsing-remitting (RR), secondary progressive (SP), or primary (PP) 26 healthy volunteers. calculated \({\overline D}\), FA T2-hyperintense lesions, T1-isointense T1-hypointense several areas D}\) majority NAWM regions studied were different corresponding quantities controls. was lower than controls only for parietal pericallosal areas. SPMS had higher corpus callosum either RRMS PPMS. Average lesion higher, average measured whereas these two populations not different. both PPMS patients. moderately correlated disability. This confirms metrics to identify amounts detect diffuse It also shows that measuring enables us obtain about damage, complementary given FA.
