摘要: Children on the autism spectrum often demonstrate atypical joint attention, leading some researchers to consider attention defecits a core feature of spectrum. Structured measures, such as Early Social Communication Scales (ESCS), are commonly used provide metric attention. To explore assessment in multiple contexts, we implemented an alternative system for coding behaviors. We compared initiation (IJA) and response (RJA) behaviors coded from naturalistic examiner—child play samples with similar IJA RJA elicited within structured ESCS protocol. Participants were 20 toddlers Levels two contexts significantly positively correlated, providing support use sampling skills viable alternative, or supplement, measures.
