Performance of the BGO endcap calorimeter of the CMD-3 detector

摘要: The BGO endcap calorimeter was successfully operated in the CMD-2 detector at VEPP-2M collider. It consists of 680 crystals, each with a size 25 × 150 mm3, arranged two identical endcaps, total crystal weight 450 kg. light readout used vacuum phototriodes. has been upgraded to operate CMD-3 new collider VEPP-2000. major part calorimeter, remains same. main upgrade is use silicon PIN photodiodes and electronics. reason change photosensitive device strong non-uniform magnetic field volume reduced available space. Hamamatsu photodiode S3590-08 chosen as an optimal solution, it insensitive fields both compact stable. An order magnitude larger capacitance requires design produce custom expected bring overall improvement parameters. installed participates data taking which started 2010. preliminary energy resolution measured range 160–1000 MeV. better compare detector.
