摘要: Abstract To investigate the relationship between serum micronutrients and subsequent risk of oral pharyngeal cancer, a nested case-control study was conducted within cohort 25,802 adults in Washington County, MD, whose blood samples were collected 1974 stored at -70°C for assays. The levels nutrients 28 individuals who developed cancer during 1975 to 1990 compared with 112 matched controls. Serum all individual carotenoids, particularly β-carotene, lower among subjects cancer. risks this malignancy decreased substantially increasing level each carotenoid. Persons highest tertile total carotenoids had about one-third as those lowest tertile. High α-tocopherol also related low later years, but elevated significantly γ-tocopherol selenium. findings from are consistent many previous epidemiological investigations dietary factors provide further evidence potential role chemoprevention these malignancies.
