摘要: By definition, immunoassays are biochemical assays that detect the presence of an analyte, either antibody or antigen, using labeled antibodies as analytical reagent. Immunoassays can be adapted for detection analytes across laboratory disciplines and often more cost-effective than other diagnostic methods. In clinical microbiology laboratory, serve confirmatory tests, therefore results typically not intended to used sole basis on which a diagnosis is made. However, certain infectious diseases, including Lyme disease, cryptococcal meningitis, syphilis, antigen by primary means infection established. Due their ease use, rapid turnaround time, generally high specificity, increasingly becoming available point-of-care testing. This chapter summarizes common immunologic testing methods currently in laboratories application diseases. The discussion emphasizes general assay design, with important caveats relevant test development interpretation. While some examples relating included, in-depth, pathogen-focused discussion, reader directed designated chapters this Manual.
