Bronchoscopy findings in children and young adults with tracheostomy due to congenital anomalies and neurological impairment

摘要: The aim of this study was to examine bronchoscopy findings for children and young adults with long-term tracheostomies due congenital anomalies neurological impairment identify characteristics associated abnormal bronchoscopic findings. We conducted a retrospective 128 cases (81 children) at pediatric rehabilitation center. Thirty- eight (30%) had normal 14 (17% all were decannulated following bronchoscopy. Ninety (70% cases) (e.g. granulomas, airway inflammation, fixed obstruction). An acute indication the strongest predictor an finding, while age (younger) diagnosis (multiple (MCA)) also abnormalities. For subsample undergoing routine surveillance (n = 90), underlying (MCA) younger contributed slightly. These add limited literature describing in youth or impairment. may be useful clinicians determining care needs tracheostomy.
