摘要: This chapter discusses some of the uses ion-beam technologies in geological sciences. Most methods used field are analytical, and we do not attempt to summarize all these as many will be found other chapters this text. Instead, focus on applications ion beams several specific areas, including trace-element diffusion, alteration processes, radiation effects minerals. Of course, each topics is importance more general such as, for example, geochronology. Here, specifically measurement or “material-modification” tools.
