摘要: Climate change is perhaps the most serious environmental threat to fight against hunger, malnutrition, disease and poverty in Africa, mainly through its impact on agricultural productivity. This paper discusses challenges of adaptation climate Nigeria under categories (adapted from FAO, 2001) - Hunger Poverty; Agricultural funding for research technology development; Traditional practices; Trade Liberalization Market Development; Policies, Institutions Public Goods; Information Human Capital. The rural population, who produce more than 70% food eaten Nigeria, are disproportionately poor face malnutrition disease. Both government private sector, which should drive sector consistent policies, robust infrastructure development, have failed accord this problem priority it deserves. Moreover, anticipated benefit trade liberalization has trickle down African farmer, coupled with inefficient local marketing systems. In addition, farmers slow changing their farming practices such as bush burning, deforestation rain-fed agriculture they lack requisite education, information training necessary adapt change. It recommended that not only decentralize programs poverty/HIV-AIDS (funding activities), but make them participatory. there be an explicit national policy framework, adequate provision irrigation, drainage, weather forecasting other infrastructure, incentive agriculture, participatory on-going capacity building farmers, drought resistant short duration high yielding crops integration indigenous modern knowledge adaptation, strengthening extension services, encouragement formation farmer groups.
