摘要: Background: In amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the origin of fasciculations is disputed. We hypothesized that discharge pattern fasciculation potentials (FPs) would be different for FPs arising in motor axon or spinal neuron. Method: were recorded by high-density surface EMG biceps brachii vastus lateralis muscle 15 minutes 10 patients with ALS. Records decomposed into FP waveforms and their firing moments. Interspike interval (ISI) histograms constructed fired more than 100 times. Results: Two types ISI found. 1) 23 30 a total 8,597 ISIs, refractory period was 3 to 4 msec. ISIs longer msec had Poisson distribution. Five these discharged doublets an approximately 5 msec, indicative supernormality. GLOSSARY: ALS = sclerosis; potential; interspike interval; MU unit.
