Synthesis and Performance of Advanced Ceramic Lasers

摘要: This paper reports recent progress in the production of polycrystalline Nd:YAG (Y 3 Al 5 O 12 ), Nd:YSAG Sc 1.0 4.0 Yb:YSAG ceramics, and a Nd-doped YAG single crystal with an almost perfect pore-free structure by advanced ceramic processing. The laser conversion efficiency Nd- Yb-doped ceramics is extremely high, their optical qualities are comparable that commercial high-quality crystals. We have also succeeded fabrication crystal, which can be used for oscillation, solid-state reaction method. Laser oscillation was very low when pores remained inside crystal; however, slightly higher than having high quality. From this fact, it recognized scattering occurs mainly residual at grain boundary less. In addition, we confirmed heavily doped fabricated sintering Moreover, demonstrated composite complicated structures without need precise polishing diffusion bonding. Advanced processing, enables design flexibility element, presented work important development high-performance (high efficiency, beam quality, output energy, etc.).
