摘要: Summary. The diabetes which occurs spontaneously in the 'BB' Wistar rat has many affinities with human Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. It a non-obese, standard, laboratory derived from non-inbred line. Both sexes are affected, onset corresponding approximately to time of sexual maturation. genetic and immune factors involved aetiology, but their precise nature remains be defined. Evolution overt clinical syndrome over period hours few days. An intense insulitis is found, accompanied by selective destruction B cells. Although may precede weeks, within 7-21 days after glycosuria cells completely destroyed have disappeared islets few, small little residual inflammation. If untreated, marked wasting body tissues, including fat muscle protein, dehydration, ketosis supervene. Careful study littermates reveals glucose intolerance 10%-25%, always these rats subsequently develop insulin-dependent Marked lymphopenia, mainly thymus-derived (T) lymphocytes, both precedes sustained during This lymphopenia appears associated reliably insulitis, simple marker susceptibility thereto. Abnormalities nerves, testicles, tendency towards increased frequency lymphomas been found. Further research this animal could lead insights into pathophysiology complications potentially applicable man.
