摘要: Centrioles and basal bodies (CBBs) are microtubule-rich cylindrical structures that nucleate organize centrosomes cilia, respectively. Despite their apparent ninefold rotational symmetry, the nine sets of triplet microtubules in CBBs possess asymmetries morphology associate with them. These define position nascent CBB assembly, orientation ciliary beating, spindle poles maintenance cellular geometry. For some these functions, is first established during new biogenesis when daughter structure positioned adjacent to mother. The mother organizes surrounding environment born into, thereby providing a nest for develop. Protists, including ciliates algae, highlight importance this formation asymmetrically placed scaffolds onto which assemble positioned. Recent studies illuminate positioning centrioles relative modular pericentriolar material (PCM) suggest that, like ciliates, an immediate positioning. In Commentary, I will explore assembly as event building describe how both may asymmetric assembly.
