摘要: The loss of biodiversity is a mounting concern, but despite numerous attempts there are few large scale conservation efforts that have proven successful in reversing current declines. Given the challenge conservation, need to develop strategic plans address species declines even with inherent uncertainty managing multiple complex environments. In 2002, State Wildlife Grant program was initiated fulfill this need, and while not explicitly outlined by Congress follows fundamental premise adaptive management, ‘Learning doing’. When action necessary, basic biological information an understanding appropriate management strategies lacking, enables managers be proactive spite uncertainty. However, regardless strengths development effective framework challenging. review 53 Action Plans, I found keen awareness planners method for addressing incorporation explicit approaches within each plan remained elusive. Only w25% included how would implemented at project level their state. There was, however, considerable support across further implementation management. By furthering principles outlining decision making process, states will poised meet pending challenges conservation. Published Elsevier Ltd.
