摘要: Many protein species produced in recombinant bacteria aggregate as insoluble clusters named inclusion bodies (IBs). IBs are discarded from further processing or eventually used a pure source for vitro refolding. Although usually considered waste byproducts of production, recent insights into the physiology and molecular architecture have revealed that these particles unexpected functional materials. In this Opinion article, we present relevant mechanical properties discuss ways which they can be explored biocompatible nanostructured materials, mainly, but not exclusively, biocatalysis tissue engineering.
