摘要: Abstract We reviewed the records of 20 patients with malignant lymphoma presenting in thyroid gland who were seen at The Princess Margaret Hospital between 1958 and 1977. disease predominantly affected females an older age group clinically was characterized by a rapidly enlarging neck mass associated obstructive symptoms. Seventeen (85 %) had histiocytic lymphoma. Eighteen (90 either Stage IE or HE (Ann Arbor classification). All treated radiotherapy. Adjuvant chemotherapy used only three patients. Overall survival rate 5 years 35%. recurrences but one occurred within 6 months. Survival from time recurrence 7%. Postmortem examination eight showed widespread all; lung, G.I. tract, liver kidney most frequently distant sites. long term (A) composed I four II disease. failure (B) included live I, six two IV Group A “localized” all received radiation treatment to mediastinum. B none survived years. (five “extensive” disease) only; conclude that radiotherapy mediastinum is adequate form localized More advanced should be managed chemotherapy.
