EFFECT OF IMPLEMENTING AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM ABOUT FAMILY CENTERED DEVELOPMENTAL CARE ON NEONATAL NURSES' KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICES AT NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNITS

摘要: Background: Preterm infant is a live born delivered before 37 completed weeks of gestation. Prematurity responsible for the largest number admissions to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Family centered developmental (FCDC), defined as group nursing interventions formulated reduce effects NICU environmental stressors on preterm infants, and integration family in their infants' order improve outcomes families. Neonatal nurses are unique position implement neuroprotective interventions. Aim study this was done evaluate effect implementing an educational program about FCDC nurses' knowledge practice. Design: A quasi experimental research design using (pre-test & post-test measures) used. Method: The conducted at NICUs related El-Mansoura General Hospital New Mansoura City, Egypt. included all (=51), recruited over six months’ period. Two tools were used collect data; structured questionnaire, practices observational checklist. Results: finding showed that, minority (13.7%) had sufficient implementation, percentage improved 100% immediately after program, follow up In addition, implementation resulted significant improvements from totally unsatisfactory 100 % satisfactory slightly declined 95.7% phase difference statistically p=0. 000. Conclusion recommendations: it concluded that has positive nurses’ practice regarding FCDC. recommended including into curriculum creates team with physicians, application care. As well assessing mothers' barriers hindering them being part life NICU. continuous training essential change attitude medical toward plan infants.
