摘要: Long interspersed elements (LINEs), or non-long-terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposons, are mobile genetic that exist in the genomic DNA of most eukaryotes, comprising a considerable portion host chromosomes. LINEs constitute endogenous mutagens cause insertional mutations chromosomes and have large impact on genome evolution. Despite their importance, however, molecular mechanism LINE retrotransposition is not fully understood. Several studies suggest proteins participate repair breaks modulate retrotransposition. Recently, we provided evidence there 2 distinct pathways-annealing direct-that join 5'-end to chromosomal DNA. These pathways appear be used distinctively by zebrafish human L1 DT40 cells. In HeLa cells, only annealing pathway appears used. This implies different characteristics also factors dictate which selected. Here, discuss 5'-end-joining propose integration adopt certain factors.
