摘要: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects selection for increased size testes on semen and testis characteristics. Boars from a line selected at 150 d age (TS, n = 25) randomly control (C, 18) were used. Semen collected three times per week 3 wk (TRT1) then daily (TRT2) beginning when boar averaged 276 d. It followed by 4-wk period one collection TRT1-TRT2 sequence repeated. After 64 collections, boars castrated evaluated sperm numbers. Volume semen, percentage motile cells, abnormal cells in did not differ (P > .05) between lines. Concentration greater TS TRT 1 (35.0 million cells/mL, P < .10) 2 (29.5 .01). Number ejaculate (6.1 4.3 billion 2, respectively; .05). Percentage less younger ages. 16 18 cells/mL older Significant differences shapes response curves with increasing number across lines ages found. These small considered be important. Line testicular epididymal numbers production consistent traits. Repeatabilities traits .16 .74. Selection can used improve reproductive capacity artificial insemination.
