摘要: In the past decade, two major advances in our understanding of nuclear organization have taken field gene regulation by storm. First, technologies that can analyze three-dimensional conformation chromatin revealed how genome is organized and provided novel insights into regulatory regions interact. Second, recognition many proteins form membraneless compartments through liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) has challenged long-standing notions within nucleus are offered a tantalizing general mechanism which aspects function may be regulated. However, functional roles topology LLPS regulating expression remain poorly understood. These topics were discussed with great fervor during an open discussion held at recent workshop titled 'Chromatin-based development' The Company Biologists. Here, we summarize points covered this debate discuss they tie current thinking regulation.
