摘要: Cyanobacterial species composition of fresh water and terrestrial ecosystems chemical environment in Schirmacher Oasis Continental Antarctica was investigated. Over 35 cyanobacteria were recorded. Diazotrophic both heterocystous unicellular contributed more than half to the count except lake ecosystem. The varied among as well ecosystems. physico-chemical analyses revealed its poor nurient content which might have supported growth diazotrophic an Antarctic environment. Among Oscillatoria, Phormidium Nostoc commune dominant flora most habitats. physiological characteristics isolated strains indicated that N2-fixation, nitrate uptake, nitrate-reduction, ammonium-uptake, GS-transferase activity photosynthesis unaffected at low temperature (5 degrees C) adaptation for cyanobacteria. This phenomenon not evident different tropical origin. optima N2-fixation cyanobacterial range 15-25 C, nearly 10 C lower their respective reference Similar results obtained cyanobacteria-moss association. endergonic activation energy exhibited by above metabolic activities view adapted
