摘要: Despite the fact that they are not typically life-threatening, low-grade gliomas (LGGs) remain a significant clinical challenge in pediatric neuro-oncology due to comorbidities associated with these tumors and/or their treatments, and propensity multiply recurs. LGGs, total most common brain arising childhood, can often become chronic problem requiring decades of management. The Second International Consensus Conference on Pediatric Low-Grade Gliomas held Padua, Italy 2016 was convened an attempt advance pace translating biological discoveries LGGs into meaningful benefit. Topics discussed included: implications our growing understanding genomics underlying tumors; assessment model systems available; molecular histopathologic differences between adult diffuse gliomas; steps needed expedite targeted therapy late-stage trials for newly diagnosed cases. Methods diagnostic alterations Ras/mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway, typical tumors, were also considered. While overall tone positive, consensus progress is being will continue be made, scale presented by this complex group acknowledged. conclusions recommendations meeting panel provided here as outline current thinking basis further discussion.
