Some Principles of Postpositivistic Philosophy of Science

摘要: In recent years there has been a great deal of methodological debate among educational researchers, theoreticians, and practitioners concerning issues such as relativism raised by the so-called “new,” “Kuhnian” or “postpositivistic” philosophy science. The intensity this notwithstanding, fundamental principles their relations that comprise postpositivistic view have not always carefully spelled out. Some discussed will include (a) problem confirmation, (b) underdetermination theory logic, (c) experience, (d) Quine-Duhem thesis, (e) theory-ladenness (f) incommensurability theories. No attempt be made to evaluate these principles. However, those who are prepared accept all hard pressed avoid dangers relativism.
