摘要: Preclinical and clinical data suggest that subcutaneous or intravenous administration of neurotrophic factors may be effective for the treatment peripheral nervous system diseases. However, even though these proteins are natural products, they do present specific problems when used as therapeutic agents. They cannot given by oral route. elicit an immune response. Their pharmacokinetic behaviour is difficult to predict due binding other macromolecules differential sensitivity proteinases. Penetration into nerve sheets limited. Large scale production labour cost intensive. Small organic molecules in “typical drugs” tend superior protein therapeutics most, if not all, aspects.
