摘要: Radiation therapy (RT) is a cornerstone in oncologic management and employed various curative palliative scenarios for local-regional control. RT thought to locally control tumor cells by direct physical DNA damage or indirect insults from reactive oxygen species. Therapeutic effects apart those observed at the treatment target, that is, abscopal effect, have been several decades, though underlying mechanisms regulating this phenomenon unclear. Accumulating evidence now suggests immune system major determinant effect. It evident may also enhance immunologic responses tumors creating an situ vaccine eliciting antigen release dying cells. Harnessing specificity dynamic nature of target conjunction with emerging field much promise. To optimize approach, it important systematically evaluate intricacies host system, new generation immunotherapeutics approach. Here we will discuss current biologic regulate RT-induced effect how these be translated clinical setting.
