摘要: Topically administered indomethacin was found to reduce the occurrence of cystoid macular edema after lens extraction. Indomethacin given topically as 1% oil solution (sesame oil) eye drops twice or three times daily from day before operation 40th operation. This effect suggests that prostaglandins play a leading role in development this disorder. It is postulated operative irritation causes production prostaglandins, which disrupt blood-aqueous barrier, followed by an increase inflammatory mediators and debris aqueous. These substances themselves diffuse aqueous into posterior pole fundus, where they induce changes vascular permeability perifoveolar capillary plexus. Clinically then develops.
