摘要: Managed aquifer recharge (MAR) is the umbrella term for a range of technologies that enable integrated use and management surface water groundwater to achieve wide growing social, economic environmental benefits. The extent variety its applications benefits have mushroomed in recent years as demonstrated suite papers contained within this Special Issue Sustainable Water Resources Management. This paper introduces draws together some insights arising from findings these papers. projects normally evolve through development cycle covers planning, investigations, pilot scale trials then implementation full-scale projects. starts with four synthesize information large number MAR sites, demonstrate scope geographic distribution international efforts MAR, factors affecting economics projects, find metrics compare their performance among sites over time. Then there are describing significant widely contrasting completed continents covering development, what has been learned operational issues. Given context, next five explore evaluation three countries. These address issues ranging hydrogeological characterization, evaluating impacts on groundwater-dependent ecosystems community participation. All point give context final show planning preliminary studies performed select design or feasibility large-scale programs. Arranging sequence way intended yield an understanding need investigations modelling produce viable help readers consider important practical questions. What steps needed any given project to: define objectives; build partnerships; engage communities; assemble evidence technical viability, sustainability safety; secure funding; construct efficiently; streamline operations; finally monitor which met goals? were developed out broader selection presented at 9th International Symposium Aquifer Recharge (ISMAR9), Mexico City, June 2016. They companion another ISMAR9, published journal complementary theme “ Quality Considerations Aquifer Systems” edited by Prof. Dr. Pieter Stuyfzand Niels Hartog (2017).
