The Prevalence of Hepatitis B and C Virus in Patients With End-Stage Kidney Disease on Regular Hemodialysis in Duhok, Iraq: A Brief Report

摘要: Background and aimHepatitis B C virus (HBV HCV) infections are considered as major global public health concerns. Chronic may lead to liver cirrhosis, hepatic failure, hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, the aim of this study was investigate prevalence HBV HCV in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) on regular hemodialysis Duhok located Kurdistan region Iraq.MethodsA cross-sectional conducted Duhok, Iraq between January 2019 October 2019. During period, a total 143 within age range 9-72 years old ESKD visited dialysis center for hemodialysis. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test positivity then viral load tested by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR). Finally, confirmed Xpert quantification assay.ResultsAmong recruited samples, 5 out (3.49%) were positive while those undetected. On other hand, 3/143 (2.1%) Ab. All these 3 also RT-PCR.ConclusionsESKD analysis showed low center. An effective infection control program, vaccination, treatment make elimination feasible such group
