Twisted intramolecular charge transfer, aggregation-induced emission, supramolecular self-assembly and the optical waveguide of barbituric acid-functionalized tetraphenylethene

摘要: A red-emissive barbituric acid-functionalized tetraphenylethene derivative (TPE-HPh-Bar) was designed and synthesized. TPE-HPh-Bar exhibits the effect of twisted intramolecular charge transfer due to interaction its donor acceptor units. Whereas emits faintly in solution, it becomes a strong emitter aggregated state, demonstrating phenomenon aggregation-induced emission. can self-assemble into nanospheres upon natural evaporation solutions. In presence melamine, nanorods (un)sealed nanotubes are formed, content which depends on melamine amount. The crystalline grown from diethyl ether/hexane solution exhibit good optical waveguiding with low loss (0.137 dB μm−1). Such attributes make material find wide applications many areas such as biological imaging optoelectronic nano-devices.
