摘要: The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene encodes four alternatively spliced mRNA, variants 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, encoding the whole isoform a truncated isoforms b, c d, all of which lack receptor’s intracellular domain. In addition, mutant EGFRvIII differs from in extracellular expression pattern these is unknown adult diffuse gliomas. Thus, we investigated 47 cases: i) EGFR protein by immunohistochemistry using an domain-recognizing antibody (Ext-Ab) domain specific one (Int-Ab), ii) mRNA EGFRv1, -v2, -v3, -v4 -vIII RT-PCR iii) amplification fluorescent situ hybridization. relation data with histological criteria patient outcome was studied. immunostaining stronger Ext-Ab than Int-Ab. -v3 were highly correlated. They expressed tumors, highest levels glioblastomas. EGFRv1 strong presence vIII mRNAs more closely associated Int-Ab staining. concerned only glioblastomas high EGFRv2, transcripts. A pejorative with: histology (glioblastomas), amplification, labeling variant mRNAs. Our results indicated that full-length are not sole This could explain discordant immunohistochemical reported literature may have therapeutic implications.
