摘要: Abstract The effect of infection by prototypes from the three major species Leishmania on oxidative burst human mononuclear phagocytes in culture was examined. The presence intracellular parasites species, L.major, L.donovani and L.mexicana decreased hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) superoxide anion (O2-) production. This particularly apparent when infected cells were compared to control monocytes following treatment with IFN-gamma. Nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction also cells. morphological analysis monolayers clearly showed that incapable reducing dye as uninfected Decrease NBT positive production H2O2 O2- related degree monocyte monolayers. These results suggest amastigotes decreases may contribute parasite survival. Failure patients chronic granulomatous disease kill these emphasized importance for this function. Nevertheless, consistent increase leishmaniacidal attained after IFN-gamma indicates other non-oxidative mechanisms induced cytokine are important killing parasites.
