摘要: The potential of genomic medicine in improving the quality healthcare both at population and individual-level is well-recognized globally. However, successful adoption genetic evidence into clinical practice depends on training workforce researchers medicine. Due to limited expertise medical genetics genomics field, widespread uptake largely task-shifting for implementation key professionals such as nurses. Their knowledge would be developed through courses aimed professional development. Globally, trainers, initiatives are early stages development, but resource settings African continent face additional logistical institutional challenges. Genomic Medicine Training (AGMT) Initiative was conceived during a combined conference Society Human Genetics (AfSHG) Heredity Health Africa Consortium (H3Africa) 2016, Senegal, response needs developing skills AGMT established implement sustainable initiative primarily who not geneticists nurses, doctors, pharmacists Africa. This paper reports establishment strategies piloted by this designing implementing an accredited frame-work community-based blended learning course nurses across 11 countries. global experiences, outcomes lessons learnt highlighted. strategy takes advantage existing research consortia networks train create pool trainers has adopted evidence-based approaches guide curriculum content development/adaptation. first Africa-wide online which forms basis from develop other wider public.
