摘要: Recently, it has been recognized that there is a metabolic coupling between the cytosol and mitochondria, where outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM), boundary these compartments, important functions. In this crosstalk, mitochodrial Ca2+ homeostasis ATP production supply play major role. The primary transporter of ions metabolites across OMM voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC). interaction VDAC with Ca2+, glutamate, NADH, different proteins was demonstrated, interactions may regulate permeability. This review includes information on purification methods, characterization its activity (selectivity, voltage-dependence, conductance), regulation by ligands, such as glutamate touches many aspects physiological relevance to mitochondria-mediated apoptosis.
