摘要: Sun bears (Helarctos malayanus) have a wide distribution in Southeast Asia, but little is known about their natural predators. During camera-trap survey 2018 Htamanthi Wildlife Sanctuary, Myanmar, we photographed male leopard (Panthera pardus) carrying sun bear cub by the throat. This first reported case of probable predation on leopards, and only second confirmed predator. A literature review showed that consumption Asiatic black (Ursus thibetanus) tigers (P. tigris) was widespread whereas both species leopards dholes (Cuon alpinus) less common. Outside not dholes, were shown to kill or consume other species. Future research should examine interspecific relationships between large felids better understand what, if any, impacts ecology.
