摘要: In order to assess the source of trace elements and compare uptake between different bivalve species, oysters mussels were transplanted five sites in upper Patuxent River estuary during 1988. Transplant located above below discharge Chalk Point Steam Electric Station (CPSES)—a historic point for copper. Organisms sampled approximately monthly 1 yr analyzed copper silver. During spring summer, concentrations silver increased at upstream stations. There was very little change with either time or among Copper accumulated by approached those found previous periods when CPSES used Cu−Ni alloy condenser tubes (1966–1987), suggesting that corrosion from only a minor contributor burdens river nearby. The lack accumulation same suggests part reason may be taxonomically specific physiological effect caused salinity regime Patuxent.
