摘要: A new conceptual framework has been developed which explains the formation of shear-related casting defects such as porosity, segregation and tears. The theory relates defect to mechanical behaviour partially solidified microstructure when shear stresses are during filling a by subsequent feeding processes solidification. Two transition points, dendrite coherency point maximum packing solid fraction, divide mushy zone into three regions different behaviours. response mush is related presence these zones solidification casting. resulting rationalized considering governing local stress rate, strength time available for fluid flow. design casting, process used alloy composition all influence relative importance shearing on formation.
