摘要: OBJECTIVES: To compare the different correlations of body mass index (BMI) and percent fat (BF%) with other ethnic groups to evaluate appropriateness Asia-Pacific redefining obesity criteria in Taiwanese population. The corresponding BF% BMI cutoffs overweight will also be studied. DESIGN: A cross-sectional epidemiological survey. SUBJECTS: total 509 male 570 female subjects aged ≥20 y sampled by systematic stratified clustering sampling method were analyzed. MEASUREMENTS: was obtained weight (kg) divided squared height (m2). estimated (BMIe) deduced from Caucasian-based four-compartment equation (4C). measured methods dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) or 4C used abbreviated as DXA-BF 4C-BF, respectively. RESULTS: curvilinear relationship between age established. When compared age-stratified groups, had a higher (4C-BF) any given than Caucasians. That is, level 4C-BF for BMI≥25 kg/m2 similar BMI≥30 kg/m2 BMIe values 25 30 kg/m2 nearly equal BMIs 23.6 25.3 kg/m2 males, 22.7 24.8 kg/m2 females, 25% 26.2 kg/m2 35% 24.4 kg/m2 females. Consequently, 23 25 kg/m2 compatible 35 38% CONCLUSION: It demonstrated that relatively lower but In general, newly proposed (≥23 kg/m2) (≥25 kg/m2) may acceptable both subjects.
