摘要: To evaluate age-dependent abnormalities in mitochondrial redox metabolism specifically dystrophic skeletal muscle, oxygen consumption, thiobarbituric acid reactivity (TBARS), free-radical scavengers and oxidative marker enzymes were measured the muscle from adult senile control (C57BL/10) (mdx/+) mice. Mitochondrial consumption state 3 was significantly lowered with age (–52%) less markedly (–30%) muscle. Compared concentration of TBARS cellular lipofuscin increased Enzymatic activity glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) α-tocopherol (GSH-Px 43±5.7 vs 53±8.7 U/g protein, 0.19±0.09 0.29±0.14 µmol/g total lipids), but decreased 80±8.0 53±12 0.45±0.13 0.19±0.03 lipids) Selenium content only (1.37±0.42 0.78±0.21 nmol/g wet muscle). In conclusion, enzymatic adaptation to reactive species limited suggesting a higher need for antioxidants, especially α-tocopherol.
