摘要: Publisher Summary The Atlantic and Pacific halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus H. stenolepis, respectively) are two morphologically similar flatfish forms inhabiting the boreal subarctic waters in their respective oceans. Until recently, there were disagreements as to taxonomic status of these forms. More recent studies, however, using genetically determined electrophoretically detectable protein variants test for genetic differences, have revealed a difference between magnitude that confirms treatment taxa separate species. Pleuronectiform flatfishes thought evolved Ocean early Tertiary period because greater present-day diversity Ocean. This chapter presents an account biology, fishery, potential aquaculture
