摘要: Does generosity spur collateral benefits as well direct ones? I hypothesized that others in one's social network may profit from the charitable spirit and even be inspired to act kind. In a longitudinal study, participants were randomly assigned Givers, Receivers, or Controls. Givers performed acts of kindness over 4 weeks for customized, randomized groups Receivers who unaware Givers' assignment. Results showed both mutually benefit well-being practice generosity, receiving is an unequivocally positive experience, rewards practicing spill networks. Furthermore, spontaneously chose their own kindness--demonstrating pay-it-forward effect--and networks kindly towards others. This study advances scientific understanding how operates real world--how individuals it, propagate it
